CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICE

The intent of the Township Building Codes and Zoning Laws is to ensure public safety, health, and welfare. The function of the Code Enforcement Department is to enforce these laws. The Department is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., and we encourage residents to call if they have any questions or concerns.

Permits are required to repair, construct, enlarge, alter or demolish a building or structure. They are also required to alter any plumbing, electrical, or mechanical equipment or system. Adding a fence, patio, or pool in a yard requires a permit, as does replacing or enlarging driveways and sidewalks. Replacing shingles on a roof also requires a permit. If you are unsure whether the work you a performing to your property requires a permit, please phone the Code Enforcement Office before you spend money on something you cannot use or fit onto your property. Please remember that no work can commence until an application is filed and a permit is issued.

The Code Enforcement Department is also responsible to monitor the exterior of property and premises. Property and premises must be maintained clean, safe, sanitary and free of rubbish or garbage. In addition, the interior and equipment of all homes must be maintained, structurally sound, and in a sanitary condition.
